This journal is first and foremost mine. With that in mind, you should know that these are the things I expect of myself:
    -That I will try to be respectful to others;
    -That I will try to be respectful to myself even when I don't like myself;
    -That I will try to be compassionate towards and considerate of others without enabling them;
    -That I will often fail, but that I will not give up;
    -That I will try to be mindful of my privileges even while acknowledging the ways in which I am oppressed, and that I will not allow anyone to undermine my feelings about either of these things;
    -and that I will treat myself as a person of equal standing with you regardless of how our strengths and weaknesses, or advantages and disadvantages, compare.

You should also keep in mind that this journal is not me. What you read here may not be all of what I write, and it certainly won't be all of who I am. Furthermore, who I think I am and who you think I am could be two very different things, and I don't expect us always to compromise the two. The same, of course, goes for our opinions on other things as well.

LYRICAL THEME:

Don't make me feel;
It's better when I'm numb
Don't make me reach;
I don't need anyone
Don't make me look;
It's just too glorious
Don't make me try;
It's too laborious
I'm not ready, though I'm falling down
I don't want to be found

I can almost hear the sound
Of my ego dying
I just realized my fate;
Now there's no more hiding
Looking out from where I stand,
On the edge of where I'll be
When I come home

Don't let me dream;
I'm not supposed to fly
Don't let me know;
I might just question why
Don't give me faith;
I'll find my own way
Don't tell me how;
I'll get there someday
Everybody's got something to say;
Wish they'd all go away

I can almost hear the sound
Of my ego dying
I just realized my fate
Now there's no more hiding
Looking out from where I stand,
On the edge of where I'll be
When I come home

I can almost hear the sound
Of my reasons dying
I just realized my fate
Now there's no more fighting
Looking out from where I stand,
On the edge of where I'll be
When I come home
When I come home
When I come home
When I come home
